"Give me a red rose," she cried, "and I will sing you my sweetest song."
Oscar Wilde - The Nightingale and the Rose
I took so many rose photos this last week that I got in a romantic mood while downloading them from my camera and processing a few of them. Anyway, I don't remember how but I've find myself reading Oscar Wilde's "The Nightingale and the Rose". And I wept and wept because of the nightingale's useless sacrifice. It's a shame I know, romantics is not trendy these days but you have my word, it felt so good.
Here is a red rose bud picture. It is SOOC, as most of my photos, except cropping.

I feel something is wrong with this picture but I have no idea what to change on it.
Please leave me some feedback on this, if you are an experienced photographer or just a beginner.
Update:
Thank you all for the nice feedback and good advices, I'll try a few.
The white and colorful patches come from the blurred out roses in the background. I was too lazy to process them, that's why I mentioned that they are sooc.
As I mentioned in my other post, there were so many roses in this garden that I was not able to isolate individual ones, so I just cropped the picture.
Thanks again!
Have a great weekend!

To my eye, it looks unbalanced. Try flipping the image so it becomes the mirror image of what you have. From that angle, the lowest petal will appear to be supporting the bud rather than dragging it down. Just my opinion. ;-)
its beautiful, petals like velvet and romantic color. I guess , I m no help with pics but may be it feels like as if its not the front side of rose. ohh...I m no help:)
Oh this flower is a such a beautiful colour and the texture comes through in the photo. I'm no expert but I will take a try.
It seems like maybe the photo is not balanced. You see the "heavy" part of the photo is on the right side, partly caused by that white thing in the background and partly by the leaf that is unfurled. I hope this helps.
I mean unfurled petal (not leaf).
There's something special about red roses....
I like your red rose but I think that your white spots are too dominated!
Lovely rose! Have a great weekend too :)
Perfect in its imperfection?
It's a beautiful rose and I so appreciate SOOC shots!
I'm only an amateur but for me that white spot at the bottom right is a distraction. My eye tends to focus there because it is so bright.
I like the unfurled petals naturally breaking away from the rose so I personally wouldn't flip it.
If you decide to play with the image I hope you post the result for us to see. :)

Hi Maia, Weekend Flowers is all the weekend open. So you have little more time :) Can´t wait to see your flowers!
There is nothing wrong with a romantic mood now and then, I consider that a good thing.
I love your rose Maia, I was so caught up in the petals I didn't even notice the white area until someone above mentioned it. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Nothing beats a red, red rose...it doesn't matter if the petals are reaching for the light...that is actually artistic!
I'm sharing 2 posts this week. couldn't help but go overboard with the number of flower garden photos. They were all so lovely at the Wintergarden, that I just want to show you all of them!

Such a interesting flower shot! Love the sharp red color!
Great macro shot! Love the photo.
Eu, particularmente achei perfeita. como também a citação é ótima. Tenho muito que aprender com fotos. Bom fim de semana a você e todos os blogueiros do planeta Terra.
Oh Maia it is a wonderful feeling to be romantic!
I'm not an expert so I can not offer an opinion except that the shot was clear, crisp and the bokeh (blurred images at the background) made it stand out all the more! How perfect can it be?
Have a nice week!
What a lovely shot. So dreamy!
I had 2 dozen of this romantic roses for my wedding bouquet. I just loved this color.
Gorgeous, vibrant red color Maia!
